BONUS DAYS: We all know what April 15 signifies, but what’s so important about April 17? This year, it’s when your taxes are due--since April 15 happens to fall on a Saturday. . . . The Internal Revenue Service office in Laguna Niguel will send you any free tax forms you need--call 800-829-3676--but allow a week for delivery. Need help figuring your taxes? Try 800-829-4477. Judith Golden of the Laguna Niguel IRS office says its recorded information answers most major tax questions.

TOO RICH? Kevin Cartwright of the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace has his own twist on why Pierre Chambrin was replaced by the Clintons as White House chef: “Hillary considered his French sauces too rich for her husband’s waistline.” . . . . Chambrin, who had been a favorite of the Bush family, will be guest speaker at the presidential library in Yorba Linda Monday and Tuesday evenings. . . . He’ll be busy in the kitchen too--serving up a White House lunch Tuesday to a VIP group.

BARGAIN SONG: For deep-seated blues, John Cephas, above, and Phil Wiggins can claim impressive credentials. They’ve twice won the W.C. Handy Award, the blues equivalent of the Oscars. Due to some fortunate timing, they’ll play Friday night at the San Juan Capistrano Regional Library, as part of its multicultural arts series. . . . Says a series spokesman: “They were in the area for a broadcasters’ convention, so we got them for a song. Otherwise, we couldn’t afford them.”

HAPPY BERT DAY: Even as a millionaire pitcher for the California Angels, Bert Blyleven spent much time working with youth. Now he gets a chance to do it full time. . . . Blyleven, who retired from baseball two years ago, is the Rev. Robert H. Schuller’s special guest today at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. Schuller will introduce him as the church’s new sports ministry director. . . . Schuller’s staff couldn’t resist sending out a message: “Blyleven Now Pitching for God.”
