Repairs to Shut Down Road
Beginning today, Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be completely closed for 2 1/2 miles between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., forcing many canyon and Malibu coast residents into lengthy detours to reach Downtown Los Angeles or the San Fernando Valley.
The closure to repair the rain-damaged road will last 20 days, state Department of Transportation spokesman Russell Snyder said. The southern end of the closure will be at a point two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway. The northern end will be at Grand View Drive.
Residents of the area who work elsewhere should “leave early, and by the time they get home in the evening it will be open again,” Snyder said. Between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., the road still will be restricted to one lane and access will continue to be limited to residents of the area.
Snyder said the repair work will cost $2 million.
