Wilson on European Vacation
SACRAMENTO — Republican Gov. Pete Wilson has left California for a short European vacation, leaving Democratic Lt. Gov. Gray Davis as acting governor.
Press secretary Sean Walsh said Sunday afternoon that the governor would leave late Sunday night or first thing this morning for his first vacation in five years.
Walsh also said the governor had been assured by the Office of Emergency Services that the major storm threat to California is over, at least for the time being.
On Saturday, Wilson called the state Legislature into special session beginning Thursday to consider flood relief legislation.
