SIMI VALLEY : Arts Center Faces Construction Delays
Delays in completing work on the new $2.6-million Cultural Arts Center in Simi Valley will probably push the center’s opening from April to late summer or early fall, officials said.
The new opening date was discussed at a meeting of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Commission on Wednesday.
The project stalled three weeks ago after the city fired the contractor, saying work was sub-par and subcontractors had not been paid.
Bids from five contractors hoping to complete the work are due today, and work is expected to resume in early February, a city spokesman said.
