Taxpayer Off Hook

While we appreciate the coverage that The Times has given the Dana Point Fisheries Enhancement Program, I would like to correct the statement made (in your article (Jan. 5) and repeated) in your editorial (“Fish, Experiment Could Send Stocks Up” Jan. 15). This project was sponsored by the Dana Angling Club of Dana Point that formed a nonprofit corporation called the Dana Point Fisheries Enhancement Program. This project was funded solely by private donations and private volunteers. The program was put together by the Dana Angling Club, in conjunction with the United Anglers and Hubbs Sea World.

I think it is important for people to know that this program was not government sponsored, nor did we use any tax money.
