Detective Jay Paul

So, council members Rita Walters, Mark Ridley-Thomas and their pal Ramona Ripston don’t think that Detective Jay Paul, a highly decorated veteran of 27 years service to the citizens of our city, deserves an honorary commendation upon his retirement (Jan. 12).

I met Detective Paul after he left the intelligence assignment. If there ever was an employee that could have asked for and received a stress pension, it was he. He was made the scapegoat even after being found innocent of any misconduct! He never wavered from his duties to the victims of the crimes he was assigned to investigate. The numerous commendations you referred to were earned by diligence, compassion and loyalty. For these three to once again make him the scapegoat of a decade-old vendetta and be so petty as to not want him to get a fancy piece of paper to look at in his retirement stinks.

Jay Paul, if no one else will, I commend you.
