VENTURA : Hosts of Raucous Parties Face Penalty
Hosts of loud, raucous parties will pay hundreds of dollars in penalties if police are repeatedly called out to their homes, the Ventura City Council has decided.
Under a law the council approved Monday, hosts will have to pay $218 if officers are called to the same residence three times or more in six months in response to complaints.
Police would have to determine that the gathering was a threat to public peace, health, safety or general welfare.
In recommending the law to the council, police officials noted that the department responds to about 70 party disturbance calls a month, many times to the same address.
