Stivers has 14 goals in eight Garden Grove League games, but four of the goals take on added importance. In each game against Santiago this season, Stivers scored two goals in the waning minutes to give the Mariners a 4-2 victory. The second victory over No. 6 Santiago Friday kept the unranked Mariners (11-3-1, 7-0-1) in first place. He also scored three goals in a 5-1 victory over Rancho Alamitos. Against Santiago, Stivers assisted on the first goal. The final goal came when he volleyed the goalkeeper’s punt from about 45 yards out.
