LONG BEACH : Residents to Be Surveyed on Police Department
Residents will have the opportunity to grade the Police Department over the next few weeks as part of a city survey.
The survey will ask residents whether they feel safe in their neighborhoods, if they think they will become a victim of violent crime and how often they witness criminal activity--such as drug use and prostitution--in the city. Respondents also will be asked to evaluate police response time, helpfulness, problem solving and fairness.
About 1,800 surveys will be sent to addresses selected at random. The questionnaires will also be printed in local newspapers for others who want to respond.
The results of the survey will be presented to the City Council in March, said Scott Bryant, director of the city manager’s office of strategic management.
