SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Think Tank Merges With Tucson Group
The San Juan Institute has merged with the Tucson-based Planetary Science Institute.
Under the arrangement, the nonprofit think tank will act as parent organization while the Planetary Science Institute continues to operate from its Arizona offices.
The merger took effect Monday.
The two groups will have 20 employees combined, and an annual budget of about $1.2 million, according to San Juan Institute officials.
Most of the newly merged institute’s research will be funded by grants and contracts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Science Foundation.
