NBA ROUNDUP : Robinson, Elliott, Rodman Keep Spurs Hot on Road
David Robinson scored 34 points, including a three-point play for the go-ahead basket with 42 seconds to play, as the San Antonio Spurs won their fifth game in a row with a 111-107 victory at Portland.
Sean Elliott scored 20 of his 26 points in the second half and his two free throws with 9.1 seconds to play clinched the victory for the Spurs, who have won 20 of their last 25 games.
Dennis Rodman had 19 rebounds as San Antonio dominated the boards, 44-37, and handed Portland its second consecutive home loss. Rod Strickland had 24 points and 11 assists for the Blazers.

Jamal Mashburn scored 17 of his 32 points in the first quarter as Dallas ended an eight-game losing streak with a 104-83 victory over Minnesota. Mashburn made three three-point shots in the first quarter as the Mavericks jumped to an 18-2 lead and cruised to their fourth consecutive victory in Minnesota. Christian Laettner’s 26 points led Minnesota, which was without starting forward Doug West. . . . Larry Johnson scored 27 points and Alonzo Mourning added 17 with 12 rebounds to lead Charlotte to a 100-93 road victory over Boston, which was led by Dino Radja’s 25 points and nine rebounds, and Eric Montross’ 24 and 10. . . . Chris Morris scored 20 points, including three consecutive baskets late in the fourth quarter, to lead New Jersey to a 95-77 victory over Milwaukee at East Rutherford, N.J. Rookie Glenn Robinson had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks. . . . Dana Barros scored 16 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter as Philadelphia ended its five-game losing streak with a 98-89 home victory over Washington, which was led by Scott Skiles’ 17 points and 13 assists. . . . Glen Rice scored 19 points and reserve Ledell Eackles added 16 as Miami defeated Detroit, 98-75, at Miami. . . . Mookie Blaylock scored a career-high 32 points, including seven three-point baskets, as Atlanta handed Golden State its fourth loss in a row, 111-99, at Atlanta. . . . Cleveland’s league-leading defense couldn’t contain Indiana and the Cavaliers went more than nine minutes without a field goal in the Pacers’ 101-82 victory at Indianapolis. Rik Smits scored 19 points and Byron Scott came off the bench to score 16 for the Pacers, who took the lead for good in the first quarter and were never challenged.
