Frederick Armstrong; Vietnam War Veteran

Frederick Armstrong, a Camarillo resident who worked as a technician repairing antennas at Point Mugu, has died after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 49.

Armstrong was a veteran of the Vietnam War and belonged to the American Legion post in Camarillo. He also belonged to the Camarillo Moose Lodge.

Armstrong was born in Great Falls, Mont., where his father worked as a civilian on a U.S. Air Force base. Two years later, the family moved to Camarillo, where Armstrong graduated from Camarillo High School.

After working for his father’s glass-repair company, he enlisted in the U.S .Army, serving two years during the war. He later joined the Army Reserves and was hired as a civilian engineer technician at Point Mugu.

Armstrong is survived by his parents, Fred and Marion Armstrong of Santa Maria, and his brother, Allan Armstrong of Santa Maria. A private service will be held Monday at the Pierce Brothers Griffin chapel in Camarillo.
