New Talks Set on Opening Japan Auto Markets: A U.S. official said he does not expect any major breakthroughs when Japanese and American negotiators meet in Tokyo for a new round of discussions, dealing mainly with technical issues and aimed at opening Japan’s auto and auto parts markets. Commerce Undersecretary Jeffrey Garten said the United States is still hopeful an agreement can be reached by March 31. But he cautioned reporters not to expect any major announcement as a result of the session.
