PASADENA : Councilman Sentenced for Driving Without License
Councilman Isaac Richard was sentenced Thursday to 500 hours of community service, fined $2,800 and placed on three years probation after pleading no contest to two misdemeanors stemming from an accident with an MTA bus last September.
Los Angeles Municipal Judge Keith Schwartz sentenced Richard after the councilman pleaded no contest to one count of throwing his sunglasses at the bus and another for driving with a suspended license at the time of the accident.
Richard, 37, was on his was to play in a lunch-hour basketball game at the Los Angeles Athletic Club Downtown when he reportedly cut in front of a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and made an abrupt stop.
The bus hit his car, but there were no injuries or damage. An enraged Richard yelled profanities at the driver and threw his glasses, authorities said. Richard’s driver’s license was suspended at the time because he had failed to pay a citation for speeding and for driving a motorcycle without the proper license.
