THE PREPS : GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : La Habra Wins Share of Freeway Title
Brooke Koehler scored 15 points, had 10 rebounds and seven assists as La Habra beat Sunny Hills, 70-33, Thursday to win a share of its 16th Freeway League title.
The Highlanders then won a coin flip with co-champion Troy and will enter the Division III-AA playoffs as the league’s No. 1 team.
Morgan Morris added 11 points, including three three-pointers and Aimee Weathers had 10 with seven assists for La Habra (17-6, 9-1).

In other Freeway League games:
Troy 74, Buena Park 16--Jennie Gadd had 24 points and Julie Haeger had 13 for host Troy (18-6, 9-1). Patricia Cetarelli scored six points for Buena Park (1-20, 1-9).
Fullerton 64, Sonora 46--Nadia Hoerner scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds and Shannon Hoerner added 14 points, including four three-pointers, for visiting Fullerton (13-11, 6-4), which clinched the league’s third playoff spot.
In the Century League:
Canyon 56, Foothill 30--Dawn Brown had 15 points and five steals for Canyon (20-6, 10-0).
Santa Ana Valley 52, Villa Park 45--Velina Gibson had 20 points and Allison Napier added 16 points and 13 rebounds for second-place Santa Ana Valley (16-7, 7-3). Villa Park (13-10, 6-4) finished third.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 49, Kennedy 35--Shanna Renken scored 20 points for No. 9 El Dorado (19-5, 10-0), which won its second league championship in three seasons.
Katella 55, Cypress 44--Mandy Vanderburg scored 12 points for host Katella, which finished in a third-place tie with Century. The teams meet Saturday in a playoff game at a site to be determined.
Century 43, Loara 18--Freshman Yvette Martinez had 11 points for Century (13-9, 4-6).
In the Garden Grove League:
Pacifica 54, Los Amigos 46--Amy Rummel had 20 points and Jaymee Pendergast had 12 points for Pacifica (12-12, 10-2).
Santiago 61, Garden Grove 40--Angie Ching-Sam scored 25 points for host Santiago (12-13, 7-5). The loss dropped Garden Grove (15-8, 10-2) into a first-place tie with Pacifica.
In the Golden West League:
Ocean View 69, Westminster 44--Jennifer Tuiolosega scored 22 points for No. 6 Ocean View (19-7, 10-0). Amber Farroux led second-place Westminster (15-10, 7-3) with 17 points.
Rosary 58, Tustin 47--Lauren Murphy and Sarah Cody each scored six points to help host Rosary outscored Tustin, 21-10, in the fourth quarter. Murphy finished with 18 points.
Santa Ana 54, Saddleback 41--Tanzenika Holmes had 20 points, 14 rebounds and six steals and Letty Gil had 12 points for Santa Ana (14-11, 4-6).
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 76, Magnolia 37--Lee Moulin scored 16 points and Rochelle Anthony had 15 for No. 3 Brea Olinda (24-2, 10-0).
Western 50, Anaheim 42--Jennifer Christensen scored 15 points for second-place Western (12-9, 6-4).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Estancia 56, Laguna Beach 26--Jessica Waltz scored 17 points for Estancia (16-6, 6-4).
University 49, Aliso Niguel 39--Heather Snavely had 14 points for No. 10 University (18-6, 9-1).
Costa Mesa 47, Laguna Hills 44--Koo Kim scored 13 points for Costa Mesa (18-8, 7-3), which clinched second place. Tayyiba Haneef led Laguna Hills (16-7, 6-4) with 18 points.
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 64, Capistrano Valley 52--Melody Peterson scored 29 points, had 10 rebounds and six steals in two quarters, as the No. 2 Monarchs (21-1, 10-0) won their 20th consecutive league game.
Dana Hills 56, San Clemente 43--Jennifer Hass and Ericka Tillman had 12 points each for Dana Hills (5-21, 1-9), which won its first league game. Second-place San Clemente is 16-10, 7-3.
