American Airlines Cuts Fares: The carrier said it is cutting 21-day advance purchase fares by an average of 35% to 40% throughout the continental United States. The Dallas-based airline, a subsidiary of AMR Corp., said it is also offering discounts of up to 25% for travel to Europe, and its fares are discounted up to 30% for Mexico and up to 29% for the Caribbean. American said tickets must be issued during the fare sale which runs Feb. 14 through Feb. 24. Travel is valid from Feb. 21 through June 15, it said.
