FAIRFAX DISTRICT : Victims of Crash That Killed 4 Are Identified
Authorities have identified the victims of a weekend car crash in the Fairfax area that left four young men dead and injured two others, one critically.
The accident occurred about 2:15 a.m. Saturday when the driver of a 1992 Lexus, westbound on Wilshire Boulevard, lost control of the car, hit the center median and slammed into a cluster of palms just east of Fairfax Avenue. The cause is still being investigated, Los Angeles Police Detective Terry Pearson said.
Antranik Baburov, 19, of Burbank, and Felix Lummer, 22, of Los Angeles, were ejected from the car and died at the scene of head injuries, according to the coroner’s office. Aron Ksendczovski and Russ Patlis, both 24, of Los Angeles, died at hospitals less than an hour later.
The four were in the car’s back seat and were not wearing seat belts, Pearson said.
The driver, Alex Popok, 21, of North Hollywood is in critical condition with internal injuries and broken arms and legs. Arthur Shruartsman, 22, of Canoga Park received minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital the same night, Pearson said.
The men are believed to have been returning from a Russian nightclub when the accident occurred, Pearson said.
