Saddleback Wins Team Golf Title at Bakersfield
Mike Gartner of Saddleback was the medalist and the Gauchos took three of the top four individual spots and the team title in the Bakersfield Invitational golf tournament, which concluded Tuesday.
Saddleback, the defending State champion, won with a score of 750 in the tournament played Monday at Bakersfield Country Club and Tuesday at Rio Bravo Country Club. Both are par 72.
College of the Canyons was 39 shots back at 789. Long Beach (794) finished third and Taft (795) was fifth.
Gartner, a freshman from Sweden, shot 74-70 to finish even at 144. Teammate Lee Kinney (145) was second and Jerome Valentin, also of Saddleback, was fourth (149).
The Gauchos have won four consecutive tournaments this season.
