Russian Economy to Shrink: The country’s central bank said its economy will shrink about 9% in the first quarter of this year, but the first signs of recovery will appear in a few sectors. “The first quarter of 1995 will show all the characteristics of a period of depression,” its latest bulletin said. It said, however, that there were signs of “a gradual slow-down in the fall in output, accompanied by signs of revival in industries where production decline is close to bottoming out and in export-oriented sectors.”
