Two armed men kicked in the front door of a house early Wednesday, hit one of the residents on the head with a flashlight and took a large amount of cash, police said.

One suspect later was captured.

The victims, a married couple in their 40s whom police have not identified, managed to dial 911 and drop the telephone before the men got through the front door, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Tom Garner.

By the time deputies responded to the house, in an unincorporated area of the county, the two men had fled. A suspect was arrested nearby with a handgun and $26,000 in cash police believe was taken in the robbery.

Carlos Alfredo Bohorquez, 30, of San Bernardino was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and taken to Orange County Jail, where he is being held on $100,000 bail.

The homeowner told police that at 12:15 a.m., two men barged into his home in the 1400 block of La Colina Avenue. He and his wife were robbed of cash and he was hit on the head with a flashlight by one of the intruders. The man was treated at the scene but not hospitalized.

Aided by several police dogs and a helicopter with heat-seeking capabilities, deputies searched the upscale neighborhood and located Bohorquez hiding under a bush in the 12500 block of Charloma Drive.
