Los Angeles City Councilman Joel Wachs has announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the killer of a mentally retarded man from Oklahoma who was strangled in December.
Jose Ornelas, 35, was in town to visit relatives in the San Fernando Valley for the Christmas holiday. His partially stripped body was found in a Downtown alley Dec. 9.
“It’s a sad commentary in the city of Los Angeles when a man can’t come to visit his family for the holidays without being brutally strangled on the streets of the city,” Wachs said Wednesday.
According to police, Ornelas was last seen alive Dec. 8. Investigators are looking for anybody who may have seen him board a bus in the Valley for a trip to Downtown.
