KNOWN COMMODITY

Re “The ‘Warrior’ Comes to Life,” by Pilar Viladas, Feb. 12:

“Woman Warrior” playwright Deborah Rogin “a then-unknown Berkeley-based writer”? Her earlier one-act “On the Train” was presented in 1986 at the short-lived Seventeen-Oh-Nine Theatre, part of the long-lived Deja Vu Coffeehouse/Fifth Estate complex. It was a surreal and haunting example of Rogin’s “talk-story.” I was pleased to direct this fine work, which was well-attended and received. It was not reviewed by The Times, hence the unknown status.
