Gardena 75, Garfield 53--The Bulldogs could not outshoot Gardena, which ran away in the fourth quarter to win a City 3-A first round game at Garfield.
Gardena freshman forward Albert Miller led all scorers with 18 points and had eight rebounds. Alton Hamilton added 17 points, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and had two block shots. Garfield Guards Alfonso Alfarez and Nick Valencia led the Bulldogs’ scoring with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
With 5:13 left in the third quarter, Garfield came within three points, 47-44, but Gardena put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs by 19 points.
