The Jamaican immigrant found guilty of murdering six people in a shooting spree on a crowded commuter train, will appeal his conviction on the grounds he was not mentally fit to stand trial, the New York Times reported. Colin Ferguson, who was found guilty Friday of murdering six commuters and trying to kill 19 others on the Long Island Rail Road on Dec. 7, 1993, spent months insisting he was sane while staging a series of bizarre courtroom spectacles. The newspaper said Ferguson, on the day following his conviction, had turned to the lawyers he had dismissed at the start of his trial.
