Man on Tracks Killed by Train
GLENDALE — A man who did not respond to the horn of an oncoming freight train as he lay between the tracks was struck and killed early Sunday, authorities said.
The unidentified man was hit just before 1 a.m. by a Southern Pacific train heading north on tracks near San Fernando Road and Colorado Street, according to Sgt. Russ Pierce of the Glendale Police Department.
“The train’s engineer saw the man and blasted the horn several times,” Pierce said.
The train left Los Angeles and was heading to Eugene, Ore., according to Southern Pacific Railroad spokesman Mike Furtney. It was delayed for five hours, he said.
