Villa Park Boy, 4, Selling Lemonade Is Struck, Killed by Car
VILLA PARK — A 4-year-old boy, who was selling lemonade Sunday with his brothers, died after he ran into the street and was struck by a passing vehicle, authorities said.
Timothy Doyle of Villa Park was running south along Lemon Avenue about 4:49 p.m. when he darted into the street and was struck by a southbound car near Jocotal Street, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Rex Hatch and Orange County Coroner’s Deputy Pat Lorey.
“The little boy was apparently working a lemonade stand with his brothers and for some reason he decided to run across the street,” Hatch said. The youth was pronounced dead at Chapman General Hospital in Orange.
The driver of the car, Susie Avila, 20, appeared to have been driving within the speed limit in the residential area, Hatch said. She was neither cited nor arrested, Hatch said. The sheriff’s traffic accident investigation team will investigate the death, which is routine in the case of traffic fatalities, Hatch said.
