Flamemaster Corp., a Sun Valley-based manufacturer of high-performance sealants for the aerospace industry, reported a sharp drop in earnings for the first fiscal quarter that ended Dec. 31.
Flamemaster posted a profit of $38,781, down 61% from $100,413 in the same three-month period a year earlier. Sales in the quarter totaled $621,969, down 27% from $854,033 a year earlier.
Joseph Mazin, president of Flamemaster, attributed the latest results to decreasing demand for aircraft sealants caused by a slowdown in the aerospace and defense industries.
