LA PALMA : Youth Advisory Panel Applicants Are Sought
La Palma officials are seeking applicants for a new Youth Committee that will serve as an advisory panel for both the Police Department and the Recreation and Community Services Department.
The committee is to be composed of nine people from a variety of backgrounds who attend grades 7 through 10 in junior high and high school. No leadership, social affiliations or community service is required for service on the Youth Committee, a city spokesman said.
City Council members, in approving the formation of the new advisory group, said the goal is to get “average kids,” not over-achievers or “those who are collecting another activity for their college-application resume.”
The committee will meet monthly. Application forms are available at City Hall, the Police Department, the Recreation and Community Services Department in Central Park or the public library. Applications must be completed and returned to the Recreation and Community Services Department by March 10.
