LIVERMORE, Calif. — More than 100 anti-nuclear demonstrators were arrested Monday during a protest outside a nuclear weapons laboratory, a lab spokesman said.
About 375 demonstrators gathered near the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for a rally organized by two anti-nuclear weapons groups, said lab spokesman Steve Wampler. They heard speeches from several people, including former Gov. Edmund G. (Jerry) Brown Jr., he said.
The demonstrators then marched toward the lab and 118 people were arrested at the laboratory’s south gate for blocking traffic, Wampler said.
