SAN CLEMENTE : Bowling Renovation Bids Sought
- Share via
The City Council has decided to seek more construction bids for the renovation of a lawn bowling facility in San Luis Rey Park.
Only one bid was received after the council sought bids in December, but it was more than $100,000 above what the city had budgeted, said John M. Beck, the city’s park planner.
The council voted last week to put the project out to bid again.
The city has earmarked $220,000 for the work, which calls for the demolition of the existing lawn bowling facility and the installation of new synthetic greens surface.
Beck said that $100,000 to $110,000 is needed for the greens alone, which are manufactured only in Australia and meet specific lawn bowling guidelines.
The city has been trying to renovate the lawn bowling facility since 1987, he said.
