LAGUNA BEACH — A three-city crime rampage ended in murder when a robber gunned down two Laguna Beach merchants in their downtown ice cream parlor, police said.
The suspect, whom police described as heavily tattooed, fatally shot Simindokht Roshdieh, 53, and seriously wounded her 62-year-old husband, Firooz Roshdieh, after they refused Monday night to hand over receipts at their Baskin-Robbins store.
The woman was shot once in the neck. She was pronounced dead at South Coast Medical Center, where her husband was recovering from a shoulder wound Tuesday.
The slaying followed robberies at two businesses in Costa Mesa and one in Tustin.
