Dart Group’s Former President Awarded $2 Million: Robert Haft, who sued the company after being fired by his father, has been awarded more than $2 million by a federal judge. U.S. District Judge Sue L. Robinson in Wilmington, Del., also ruled that Haft can exercise options to buy tens of thousands of shares of Dart, Crown Books and Trak Auto. The opinion clears up a number of issues that remained after a jury awarded Haft $31.6 million in September. Haft had sued Dart, Crown and Trak, charging mainly that his employment contracts at Dart and Crown were breached when his father, Herbert, unjustly fired him in June, 1993. The jury also awarded Robert 100,000 shares of Crown stock he said he earned under an incentive plan. Landover, Md.-based Dart Group owns 65% of the stock of Trak Auto, an auto parts chain, and 51% of the Crown Books chain of bookstores.
