SIMI VALLEY : Pic ‘N’ Save Is Readied for Demolition
Workers removed household goods and toys still inside the earthquake-damaged Pic ‘N’ Save store on Tapo Street in Simi Valley on Thursday, preparing the site for demolition set to begin today.
Company officials said the abandoned merchandise probably would be thrown away.
“It will be disposed of in an appropriate manner,” company spokeswoman Patricia Wehner said.
The workers filled at least one truck trailer with the merchandise on Thursday afternoon, although there was enough still in the store to fill additional trailers.
The contractors completing the work said they would knock down the store’s walls today, and all the debris would be carted off the site within a week.
When the work is done, company officials said they intend to relocate to another site in the city.
