HUNTINGTON PARK : Suspect in Shooting Faces Arraignment
A 22-year-old man faces arraignment Tuesday in the shooting death of another man who was trying to prevent the robbery of his girlfriend.
Juan Jose Angula, who has been charged with murder, will appear before Municipal Court Judge Ana Maria Luna. His arraignment was rescheduled after Municipal Court Judge Daniel P. Ramirez disqualified himself from the case earlier this month..
Ramirez said he wanted the case sent to a different judge because he had authorized a search warrant in Angula’s case.
Angula was charged with shooting Oscar Beltran, 24, on Feb. 12 during an attempted robbery.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert Jordan said that Angula demanded money from Beltran and Siria Villagran as they stood outside her Huntington Park home. Angula allegedly shot Beltran in the chest.
