COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cal State Fullerton Gives Notre Dame a Day to Forget

D.C. Olsen went two for three with five runs batted in, including a grand slam, as Cal State Fullerton pounded Notre Dame, 20-3, on the second day of the Anaheim Hilton and Towers Classic.
Olsen’s grand slam, the Titans’ second of the season, came in an explosive sixth inning. Tony Miranda’s three-run homer capped the nine-run sixth for the Titans. Miranda was three for four with five RBIs.
The Titans (13-2) took advantage of two Notre Dame mistakes in the second inning, scoring five runs (four unearned).
Titan starter Jon Ward (2-1) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Cal State Fullerton, ranked second in the nation by Collegiate Baseball, will play fourth-ranked Texas at 5 p.m. today in the tournament finale. Ted Silva (4-0) will pitch for the Titans against Longhorn ace J.D. Smart (5-0).
