Courting Latino Grocery Shoppers: Former President George Bush and former Vice President Dan Quayle will be among those speaking at the 11th annual conference of the Mexican American Grocers Assn., a Los Angeles-based national organization of independent grocers with 12,300 retail members. The three-day convention, which begins Tuesday at the Stouffer Esmeralda Hotel & Resort in Indian Wells, each year attracts hundreds of small retailers and food manufacturers as well as some of the nation’s largest makers of household products. Participants share tips for cashing in on the rapidly increasing spending power of the Latino market.
