Ford Recalls Cars for Emissions Fix: The Dearborn, Mich.-based auto maker said the 273,700 vehicles involved in the recall are the 1990-model Ford Taurus, Probe and Mercury Sable cars, which are equipped with 3.0-liter V-6 engines. Routine testing performed by the Environmental Protection Agency and Ford Motor Co. indicates that some of the cars may not meet carbon monoxide exhaust emission standards. To ensure that these vehicles meet requirements, Ford said its dealers will replace the exhaust catalyst free of charge. The replacement service requires about an hour, Ford said, but dealers may need to keep vehicles longer to accommodate service schedules.
