Homeless Man Loses Feet in Court-Approved Operation
Associated Press
LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A homeless man’s gangrenous feet were amputated after an appellate judge ruled the operation was necessary to save the man’s life.
After a hearing in Tony Edwards’ hospital room, the judge upheld a ruling that the 33-year-old man was suffering from the delusion that he could regain use of his feet.
Edwards was doing fine Saturday after surgery, a University Hospital spokeswoman said.
His feet were frostbitten about two months ago as he slept outdoors in Chicago.
