COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Antelope Valley Muscles Past Mt. San Jacinto, 17-14

Tom King and Jeff Tepper each drove in five runs as Antelope Valley College defeated Mt. San Jacinto, 17-14, in a Foothill Conference baseball opener Tuesday at Antelope Valley.

Antelope Valley (6-4-1) led, 11-2, after six innings, but San Jacinto scored eight runs in the top of the seventh before the Marauders countered with six runs in the bottom of the inning.

King, who was three for five, scored four runs and hit a two-run home run in the first to give Antelope Valley a 3-0 lead.

Tepper was four for five, scored two runs and his two-run home run in the sixth gave the Marauders an 11-2 lead.

Todd Barnes hit a solo home run in the third to give Antelope Valley a 5-0 lead. He also walked three times and scored four runs.

Oxnard 6, Cal Lutheran JV 2--Brian Downing allowed no runs and two hits in seven innings, and Eric Farias hit a two-run home run for the Condors (11-4) in a nonconference game at Oxnard.

SOFTBALL

Canyons 4, San Bernardino Valley 1--Lisa Kelley went four for four, drove in a run and stole two bases for the Cougars in a nonconference victory.

MEN’S TENNIS

Pierce 9, Ventura 0--Josh Goodley did not lose a game, and Ray Kheshvadjian and Vaz Zaghiyan each lost only two for the Brahmas in a Western State Conference match at Pierce.
