Disney Announces ‘Discovery’ Resort: Walt Disney Co. unveiled plans for a resort to be marketed exclusively to adults and parents with older children, aiming to take advantage of changing demographics. Disney Chairman Michael Eisner said the $35-million Disney Institute, to open at the Disney World Resort in Florida next year, will feature “discovery” vacations offering learning experiences from lectures to movie animation. Eisner, who attended Aspen Institute and the Chautauqua Institute in New York, said those centers inspired the plans. Separately, he refused to comment on speculation that Disney might offer to buy CBS. Other sources said reports of Disney joining with former QVC Chairman Barry Diller to make a bid for CBS are unfounded.
