Citrus Valley Health Partners and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora have signed a preliminary legal agreement to explore the possibility of merging.
A formal merger agreement could be completed by the end of this summer.
West Covina-based Citrus Valley Health Partners, a nonprofit parent organization that formed last April, includes Inter-Community Medical Center in Covina, Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina and Hospice of the East San Gabriel Valley in West Covina. The group has a total of 525 beds.
Foothill, an independent nonprofit hospital that opened in 1973, has 107 beds. If a merger is approved, Foothill patients are expected to keep their same doctors but have more service options through the other facilities.
