PREP ROUNDUP : Petrie, Bolsa Grande Blank Bloomington in Softball

Sophomore Mary Petrie pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10 and walking one in Bolsa Grande’s 4-0 victory over Bloomington Wednesday in a nonleague girls’ softball game.

Petrie also was three for four, including a seventh-inning home run for Bolsa Grande (8-2).

In other nonleague games:

Connelly 7, Cerritos Whitney 5--Rosalinda Garcia’s three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning won the game for Connelly (4-0).

Costa Mesa 3, Liberty Christian 0--A looping single to left with two outs in the seventh inning broke up the no-hit bid of Costa Mesa pitchers Niki Montgomery and Sonia Correa, who finished with a one-hit shutout.

Laguna Beach 3, Long Beach Poly 2--Jessica Roche had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for the Artists (3-1). In relief, Roche pitched three innings, allowing no hits and striking out four.

Los Alamitos 4, Cerritos Gahr 2--Amanda Peterson had three hits, scored two runs and stole three bases for Los Alamitos (6-1).

Villa Park 1-7, Fullerton 0-8--Tammy Kincaid pitched a four-hitter, striking out six. She scored the only run on Kendra Wood’s triple in the seventh for Villa Park (5-3).

In nonleague golf:

El Modena 212, Garden Grove 266--Sean Brocklebank shot an even-par 36 for host El Modena (3-3) at Green River. Garden Grove fell to 2-4.

Katella 213, Magnolia 235--Sammy Chin was the medalist for Katella (5-2), shooting a one-over par 36 at Anaheim Hills.

Marina 400, Westminster 432--Junior Jon Pan was the medalist for Marina (2-1) in 18 holes at Meadowlark, shooting a par 70.

Whittier Christian 205, Savanna 217--Brad Smith shot a 39 on Dad Miller’s par 35 course for Whittier Christian (2-2-1).

In nonleague boys’ swimming:

Brea Olinda 95, Servite 75--Senior Rich Long won the 500 freestyle in 5:35.7 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.8 for Brea Olinda (3-1). Blaise Morita finished first in the 200 free (1:55.7) and the 50 free (23.8) for Servite (0-1).

In nonleague girls’ swimming:

Edison 88, Costa Mesa 81--Kindy Tague won the 100 butterfly (1:11.33) and 100 backstroke (1:10.09) for host Edison (2-0).

Rosary 95, Brea Olinda 75--Junior Rumi Tominaga from Rosary (1-0) took first place in the 50 and 100 freestyles. She won the 50 in 26.87 and the 100 in 57.88, and she competed on the winning 200 medley relay (2.02.18) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.25).

In the Glendora Claremont tennis classic:

Brea Olinda 13 1/3, Glendora 7 2/3--Senior Alex Tiquia and junior Tony Lin swept in doubles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-3, for Brea Olinda (5-1).

In nonleague tennis:

Mission Viejo 9, Laguna Beach 9 (87-80)--Eduardo Kohlberg won No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, for Mission Viejo (2-1), which edged Laguna Beach on total games.
