For the first time, the results of today’s election for the Glendale City Council, school board and community college board of trustees will be broadcast live on local television as the votes are counted at City Hall, city officials said Monday.

As the votes are electronically counted, the tally will be fed into a computer hooked up to the broadcast control room in the City Hall basement. Results will be broadcast live over Sammons Communications Channel 6 throughout the evening, said city spokesman Ritch Wells.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The first returns of the evening will be the results of absentee ballots, which will be counted immediately after the polls close, Well said.
