A Moorpark man faces attempted murder charges after shooting at a neighbor he suspected of breaking into his apartment, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday.

Eduardo Duca, 24, was arrested after the Monday morning shooting, said Sheriff’s Detective Larry Bull.

Witnesses said that a white Ford Bronco, like one owned by Duca, pulled up outside Park Springs Condominiums in the 500 block of Spring Road at about 10:40 a.m. The driver got out and fired at least two shots at the driver of a white Chevrolet Impala--neither of which hit the man--and both drivers fled, Bull said.

Deputies recognized the Impala as being similar to one owned by Juan Torres, 18, whom Duca had accused of breaking into his East Los Angeles Avenue apartment on Sunday and stealing more than $400, Bull said.

A records check revealed that Duca drives a Bronco, and witnesses later identified Duca as the shooter, Bull said.

When deputies arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder, Duca turned over a .380-caliber pistol to them, Bull said.

On Monday evening, Torres told deputies he was shot at, and detectives found a bullet hole in his Impala, Bull said. They plucked a .380-caliber slug from the car’s door, he said.

Deputies then arrested Torres on suspicion of burglary and booked him at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Duca is being held in the jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
