New Book Helps Raise Right Business Queries : The authors’ advice may help guide the futures of college students, corporate planners and even writers.

As the school year winds down, many high school and college students are contemplating either further studies or job opportunities. The Graham Page, a publishing company at 5540-38 W. 5th St. in Oxnard, has released “Asking ‘Just Right’ Business Questions” by Curtis W. Page and Charles J. Selden. The book is aimed at corporate planners, but anyone seeking advice in areas not considered traditional business, such as writing, the arts or editing, will also find the book helpful.

Henrietta Sparks, a psychotherapist and career counselor, planned to live temporarily in Carpinteria while her earthquake-damaged Studio City home was being repaired. She never went back. The now firmly established Carpinteria resident has written “Career Choice, Career Change, Career Success: Imagination at Work,” and visits local schools to encourage students to think about advanced training and/or work. David Lavender, who has lived in Ojai since 1939, is the author of more than 30 Western titles including “Bent’s Fort” and “Land of the Giants.” He will sign his new book, “The Santa Fe Trail,” at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ojai Table of Contents. Written for youngsters 7 to 12, the book describes the adventures of the traders and settlers who traveled the 775-mile trail between Missouri and Santa Fe. Included are drawings and historical photographs.

Hear ye, hear ye: The San Luis Obispo NightWriters is sponsoring a short story contest open to all writers over 18.
