Stars from television and the movies will provide the talent for “Secrets & Letters,” an educational play about AIDS that will serve as the centerpiece for a night of fund raising at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on Friday.

Tatyana Ali of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Christopher Barnes of “The Brady Bunch Movie” and several other actresses and actors will perform in the play, which is based on letters written by teen-agers affected by AIDS and HIV.

Proceeds will go to the Dreams to Reality Foundation, a nonprofit corporation that promotes AIDS awareness through literature, public service announcements and events such as stagings of “Secrets & Letters.”

The play has been seen by more than 900,000 students in high schools and colleges across the nation, said event coordinator Christopher M. Spencer.

A silent auction also will be held to raise funds beyond those generated by the $20 ticket price ($12 for those under 18 and senior citizens). Auction prizes include two tickets to the play “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” by Steve Martin, and a two-night stay at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas.

Kaiser Permanente is underwriting the event, which begins at 8 p.m. at the theater, 4401 W. 8th St. The Wilshire-Ebell box office number is (213) 939-1128.
