Huntington Memorial Hospital’s cancer program has received a three-year approval from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

The commission, which is made up of surgeons and cancer experts, sets standards for cancer hospitals and reviews programs for conformity to those standards.

One-fifth of the more than 6,000 general surgical hospitals in the United States and Puerto Rico have commission-approved cancer programs. The program promotes consultation among surgeons, oncologists and other specialists.
