New Nintendo Game Machine Delayed: The Japanese video game giant postponed the launch of its much-hyped Nintendo Ultra 64 machine from Christmas of 1995 until next April. Nintendo Marketing Director George Harrison said work on the Ultra 64 is finished, but that the software to take advantage of the new machine’s power won’t be ready by Christmas. “We want to make sure that the Ultra 64 is a quantum leap from what’s already out there,” Harrison said. Competitors Sega, Sony and 3D0 will all have advanced video game players on the market by Christmas, but analysts are split as to whether the delay will hurt Nintendo in the long run. The new machine is based on graphics technology from computer workstation vendor Silicon Graphics Inc.
