High Price of ‘Culture’

In 1994 the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza opened, and this was going to be a great opportunity for the people of the San Fernando Valley and Conejo Valley, as well as outlying suburbs.

Wrong. The opportunity, as it turns out, is an opportunistic venture for the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza for monetary purposes only, not a cultural experience for its patrons.

It started with concerts in the fall of 1994 as high as $67, followed by a Liza Minnelli concert at $92 and Barry Manilow at $102. This is outrageous. The average person is unable to pay this, and the so-called cultural experience is only for the elite and rich.
