Liberty Christian, Katella Pitchers Keep Opposing Hitters Frustrated
Three pitchers from two Orange County high school baseball teams were involved in no-hitters Friday.
Ray Cook of Liberty Christian pitched a perfect game--the third of his career--in a 16-0 victory over St. Margaret’s that was shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule. Joe Fraser and Juan Preciado of Katella teamed to no-hit Century in a 20-1 Empire League victory.
Cook struck out 12 and Paul Malcom was two for two with a triple and two runs batted in for Liberty Christian (12-4, 7-0) in the Academy League game.
Fraser struck out eight in five innings and Preciado pitched the final two to close out the victory. Katella’s Jason Stockstill had three hits, including a triple and a double, with two RBIs and Fraser was three for three with three RBIs for Katella.
